  Shadowhunters : humans who have the ability to exergar and destroy any creature that lives hidden in the shadows , but they carry the burden of being descendants of some of these beings , and therefore are also called Slayers Dark or traitors - as are commonly called in the world of shadows .

  However , in modern times , hunters have been disappearing by the absence of confrontation with the denizens of the dark and therefore could have a common human life and die in peace . Several clans have disappeared over the years and their descendants barely knew their roles in the world , living ignorant of their ancestors .

  The only clan that was still strong and complete was the one who descended from Siegfried , a creature that was unknown , but he was feared and respected by the other inhabitants to be a being of great strength and power .
