☓ 5. The day when the death came

After being called for an interview at the University of Oxford, Kristie was returning home with great hopes of being admitted, after all, was the university of his dreams and was where Aiden would also, because he had already been admitted and was only waiting for the start of classes. He was already starting to pack up to move, because it could not continue living in Lancaster during the period in which he studied.
The boy sent her a message asking what time she would be at the airport. According to the flight attendant, had just half an hour away and that's exactly what she said. Aiden got the license and a new car a few weeks ago and he wanted to drive at any cost.
She could already see the city and its night lights. Under his watch, there were only ten minutes he was on land and home again.
The plane finally landed and she was eager to find Aiden and tell extamente as was the whole interview. Not having any kind of luggage, the girl did not have to take the plane to depart.
Several people walked from one side to the other, making it difficult to be able to find someone. However, Aiden saw beckoning her near the exit. Kristie passed quickly through the crowd and finally reached hug him.
- Ready to go?
- Yup!
His car was parked a little ahead of the exit and they followed the path leading to the house of Ludenberg quietly. Kristie told everything that happened while Aiden drove and listened with all attention.
- You think you can be approved?
- Sure. With a resume like yours no one can overcome you. It is the perfect candidate.
She smiled and stared out the window, feeling the wind blow gently on her face as Aiden turned a corner. Something caught his attention shortly after.
- Aiden, are you seeing this?
He squinted in the direction she had pointed. Really had a different light coming towards them with speed. As we got closer, he could see that it was the light from headlights, whose car was coming in the wrong direction. There was no other car around and the street was somewhat close to house two cars to pass side by side. Aiden saw that the driver was drunk and tried to stop the car, but had no time. The other driver appeared to have been frightened, but had no reflexes to stop the car.
Aiden could not regain control of the vehicle and both cars ended up crashing. There was a loud bang and the car where they were Kristie and Aiden flipped several times before stopping, leaving young people at risk. The car was completely destroyed.
Kristie could not reach the seat belt and his head had a cut caused by broken glass windshield. Had several scratches all over his body and his vision was blurred, a clear sign that soon could lose consciousness signal. She looked towards Aiden and saw pictures would never forget.
He was unconscious, covered with wounds that bled slightly face. The arms and legs were trapped in the wreckage and dripping drops of gasoline on the knee of his pants. When you look up, he saw a tree branch hung by a wire piercing his neck. Only a small movement could save her life. His breath was short.
- Aiden ...
The sound of sirens was the last thing she heard before losing the  consciousness.

She felt something sticking his left arm and woke. It was the nurse who had just put a new serum on it. Her mother was there, worried, but was relieved to see her awake. However, the image Aiden fittings secured to it filled the memory.
- Mom, what about Aiden? How is he?
You Ludenberg shook his head in a negative sad.
- We do not have it notícas.
The girl's father entered the room at that very moment, with worried expression, but not with Kristie, but with Aiden.
- When your serum is finished, the doctor gave him permission to see Aiden.
- How is he?
- Still unconscious. Did not wake up from when the accident happened.
That was enough for her to be desperate. Wait finish the serum has become an act of torture for her.
Was finally released after the tests, which found that she was completely sane. After changing clothes in the hospital for regular clothes, a nurse took her to the ward where Aiden was hospitalized. Her heart sank to see already that this was the part for patients who were in critical condition. The fourth boy was the second on the left.
- He underwent surgery to stop bleeding in the lungs. Aiden is still unconscious, but is showing strength to open his eyes.
The nurse left her alone with the boy, who was with several bandages over his face and with a device to measure his heart rate. The beats were slow but regular.
- Aiden ... I'm sorry for that. It was my fault.
- No, it was not.
It was Aiden who had spoken. He continued serenely quiet.
- Mrs. Lockwood?
- What happened was the fault of a reckless man, you are not to blame.
- If he had not gone to get me ...
- Even if you had gone alone, you could die. I do not want to take the blame.
The boy's mother closed the bedroom door. Kristie took his hand, hoping he woke up. However, nothing happened. Even knowing she should not, she nuzzled him and stood there, wishing Aiden felt his presence there and awake.
- Please, I can not be without you.
The frequency of the beats was increasingly low and his breathing becoming weaker. It clearly indicated that he would not go that morning.
The nurse came in as he heard the phone emits the sound they all knew well. Kristie was sobbing painfully clutching the boy. The doctor came in and then insisting that the girl came out from him, but she did not budge and the most we did was off the bed, but hold the hand of Aiden, who was losing heat every minute.
She remained sleepless beside his cold body all night, until the moment when the funeral came to take him to the cemetery. Her father offered support until she got in the car, where there collapsed on the bench with her face hidden in her hands. October, 19th, the day when death came.
